To put this proposal in perspective, it takes two background checks (Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the the FBI), 5 letters of referrence, 24 hours of classes, review of my finances by the goverments of two countries, 8 hours of interviews with a social worker, two documents from my personal physician, approval from the USCIS, approval from the Secretary of State, approval from the other country and countless other notarized forms for me to be able to adopt a child from another country. Then I have to wait from 1 to 5 years and pay $20,000 to $40,000 in fees. Shouldn't our requirements be at least as strict for adults coming into the country?
